Arla Foods Invest in Voice Picking from Consafe Logistics

Consafe Logistics and Arla foods have signed a contract for a voice picking system for diary products and fresh foods at Arlas Distribution terminals. The first system, currently being implemented at the Hobro terminal in Denmark, will put 75 voice terminals into service this summer. Arla is the first company using the pick-by voice technology in Denmark.

Voice picking means that warehouse staff is equipped with a small, portable voice terminal and a headset. The voice terminal contacts Consafe Logistics voice system in real time via a wireless network. The picker receives voice instructions from the system and uses his/her own voice to confirm what work has been done. The advantages are increased productivity and better balance control. Giving pickers free hands and visibility enables them to work in a safer working environment.

Voice picking has been established as a proven technology and is growing strongly within warehousing and distribution.
