EXELS AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS ACROSS EUROPE GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH WITH SIX RECENT CONTRACT WINS

Exel, the world leader in supply chain  management, has won six automotive contracts over the past six months across Europe. These include new business with Nissan, Johnson Controls and Lear.

In Spain, Nissan has awarded Exel two contracts to manage the inbound flow of parts between Spain and the UK. Exel will manage part of Nissans inbound transportation of parts from Spain to Nissans manufacturing plant in Washington, UK (NMUK). Consolidated loads will be collected daily from a cross-dock facility in Montmelo near Barcelona for onward delivery to NMUKs European parts warehouse.

The second contract for Nissan will see Exel managing the transport of parts from 50 UK-based suppliers and NMUK to Nissans assembly plant in Zona Franca, near Barcelona.

These build on Exels existing relationship with Nissan in Europe including a milk round collection in Spain (inbound to the Nissan plant in Barcelona), a warehousing operation handling all Japanese sourced material at NMUK, and a sequencing operation preparing and linefeeding parts at NMUK.

For Brose, Exel will be responsible for the companys inbound transport from German suppliers to Broses assembly plant in Spain.

This new contract adds to Exels existing inbound operation for Brose, in Santa Margarida i els Monjos, near Barcelona.

In the UK, Exel has also strengthened its business relationship with Johnson Controls and Dana Corporation. For Johnson Controls, Exel will take care of outbound deliveries from Johnson Controls Redditch plant to its customers assembly plants in the UK.

Exel has also successfully managed to renew its business with Dana Corporation and will continue to manage all outbound transport from Dana Corporations axle plant in Witton, near Birmingham.

Lear has further boosted Exels automotive freight management portfolio by recently awarding new business on a just-in-time airfreight programme.

Mark Seager, Managing Director for Exels Automotive sector in Europe, Middle East and Africa, commented, These business wins over the past six months prove our customers value the Exel way of working. It is recognition of our consistently high operational execution, our first-class teams and our ability to continuously deliver new value across our customers supply chain.
