Manhattan Associates Unveils Logistics Event Management Architecture

Manhattan Associates, Inc. the global leader in providing supply chain execution and optimisation solutions, has announced it has developed and begun delivering all of its solutions on its Logistics Event Management Architecture (LEMA) application platform. The company is the first in the supply chain industry to develop and implement this type of strategic platform for logistics as a leveraged basis for supply chain and logistics operations, which includes the breadth and depth of its Integrated Logistics Solutions. LEMA leverages Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and business process orchestration as part of a common application platform and data model for these source-to-consumption supply chain solutions and enables Manhattan Associates customers to benefit from enhanced integration, lower total cost of ownership and reduced upgrade time and cost.

We see an overwhelming desire for IT to become an enabler of business agility, and a services-oriented Business Process Platform is the single most important IT strategy available to meet this business imperative, said Jeff Woods, Gartner Research vice president, Enterprise and Supply Chain Systems. Users should begin looking for supply chain vendors that can support their Business Process Platform strategy at both a technology and a services content level. Those vendors that take the early lead in both technology and content components of services oriented architectures will be tomorrows leaders in SCM disciplines.

Manhattan Associates LEMA will provide companies with a comprehensive services-oriented supply chain platform that delivers database independence, a common data model, single sign-on functionality across solutions and an event-driven, long-running transaction processing environment critical to effective management of supply chain and logistics operations. When combined with Manhattan Associates Integrated Logistics Solutions, which manages business processes from source to consumption, this architecture provides companies with a comprehensive, technology-agnostic platform for logistics.

By establishing a roadmap for the industrys leading supply chain platform, coupled with our leading Integrated Logistics Solutions, we offer companies the opportunity to not only deploy solutions on a targeted basis, but do to so on a single, consistent architecture, said Pervinder Johar, senior vice president of research and development and chief technology officer of Manhattan Associates. This is something that has not been done before in the supply chain execution space and we believe it is a critical next step in the supply chain evolution. Clients who have or will adopt this architecture will benefit from technology alignment, simplified integration, enhanced scalability and lower total cost of ownership.

Manhattan Associates currently has LEMA-based solutions that have been implemented at clients including Armstrong Worldwide Industries, Coles Myer Ltd., Honeywell, PPG, Revlon and RiteAid.
