INFORMATICA RE-DEFINES REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERPRISE DATA INTEGRATION WITH LAUNCH OF POWERCENTER ADVANCED EDITION

Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA) today introduced PowerCenter Advanced Edition, a powerful new product offering that expands the core foundation of the market-leading PowerCenter data integration platform by including SuperGlue metadata-analysis capabilities, PowerAnalyzer data-ready reporting functionality, and key deployment-flexibility options - all on one platform and installable in under one hour. With PowerCenter Advanced Edition, Informatica is expanding the definition of an enterprise data integration platform by delivering the industry's most comprehensive set of data integration capabilities that can dramatically accelerate customers' time-to-value and address a broadening range of complex data integration projects - such as data warehousing, migration, consolidation, single view and synchronisation.

"PowerCenter Advanced Edition is the market's richest platform for broad enterprise data integration, bringing together the leading data integration platform, robust metadata analysis and data-ready reporting, cost-effective grid computing and team-based development capabilities into a single offering," said John Entenmann, executive vice president of corporate strategy and marketing of Informatica. "With PowerCenter Advanced Edition, our customers can realise the benefits of a single platform that addresses the full data integration lifecycle - helping them drive productivity and lower maintenance costs, and gain a substantial cost advantage with a rapid out-of-the-box experience."

PowerCenter Advanced Edition will help accelerate enterprise data integration initiatives, enabling enterprises to reduce IT costs and complexity, harness new technologies and ensure a single, consistent enterprise-wide view of information. PowerCenter is also designed to access, transform and integrate data from a large variety of enterprise systems and deliver that information to other transactional systems, real-time business processes, and to the business for decision-making. This allows IT management to be more responsive to business demands for information despite dramatically increasing data volumes; IT developers to benefit from reduced time to results; and users to gain a holistic and consistent view of their enterprise information.

"The new PowerCenter Advanced Edition provides exceptional value for its price, packing a multitude of desirable and proven data integration tools into a single platform," said Bill Carson, vice president of application solutions at 1-800-FLOWERS. "We can see enormous potential value in the combination of PowerCenter, SuperGlue and PowerAnalyzer. Informatica has now made it even easier to leverage the synergy of these products with an all-inclusive product offering."

PowerCenter Advanced Edition addresses multiple data integration deployment requirements, including team-based development for collaborative teams and server-grid computing capabilities. The server-grid functionality allows customers to leverage existing hardware assets and minimise upfront hardware costs, while team-based development capabilities, such as version control and configuration management, support distributed teams for enhanced productivity and flexibility.

"We are very pleased that Informatica is now completely focused on its powerful data integration technology, PowerCenter," said Neal Hill, senior vice president of corporate development at Cognos. "With Informatica's new offering, our mutual customers can look to Informatica for a rich, powerful set of enterprise data integration capabilities, while relying on Cognos for the full range of industry-leading business intelligence and performance management solutions. We look forward to working with Informatica in the near-term in order to further support customers' enterprise business intelligence initiatives by ensuring confidence in the quality of their data."

"Informatica's new PowerCenter Advanced Edition offering is a clear indicator that Informatica is not competing in the business intelligence market and is focused on data integration," said Mark Smith, senior vice president of research at Ventana Research. "By not directly competing with the traditional BI vendors like Cognos, Informatica has the opportunity to re-establish strategic partnerships with these vendors and further strengthen partnerships with Siebel and SAP."

The PowerCenter Advanced Edition provides compelling functionality out of the box at a small premium over PowerCenter Standard Edition. PowerCenter Advanced Edition will be available for shipment on March 1, 2005.
