Nisa-Todays Implements AquiTec Warehouse Management System at New Distribution Centre in Harlow

AquiTec, a leading provider of supply chain execution software, today announced that Nisa -Todays has successfully completed the implementation of AquiTecs SCM/400 warehouse management solution at its new regional distribution centre for chilled and frozen products in Harlow, Essex. A user of AquiTec since 1994 at its Scunthorpe central office facility, Nisa-Todays has now chosen to standardise on the AquiTec solution across its three regional distribution centres, which serve 480 members across all sectors equating to over 6,000 convenience stores across the UK.

Nisa-Todays launched its new 80,000 sq ft temperature-controlled distribution centre in Harlow in October 2004 to facilitate the nationwide roll-out of its six-day-a-week delivery service on chilled and frozen products - Premier Service - to its independent retail members within the group, allowing them to compete more effectively against multiple competition. AquiTecs ability to manage the back-to-back delivery and dispatch of goods in a non-stocked environment was fundamental to the success of the Groups Premier Service.

Before selecting AquiTec for its Harlow distribution centre, Nisa-Todays scoped the market for warehouse management systems and assessed a total of five different vendors solutions for functionality, risk of implementation, sustainability and development of code, and cost. AquiTec was finally selected as it scored most highly across all criteria.

Our experience of AquiTec gave us confidence that the solution could deliver the functionality and scalability we required, explained Stephen Hunter, managing director of logistics at Nisa-Todays. Our decision was also based on the vendors ability to effect a smooth implementation. The AquiTec team were extremely competent and dedicated and did a fantastic job of ensuring that the implementation went smoothly and the distribution centre could launch on schedule.

In order to harmonise systems and ensure consistency throughout its UK distribution network, Nisa-Todays plans to standardise on AquiTec across its three regional distribution centres. With the Harlow implementation complete, the final stage of this strategy is to replace existing warehousing systems with AquiTec at its Stoke-On-Trent facility in April 2005.

Nisa-Todays has been an AquiTec customer for eleven years and this decision to standardise on AquiTec across its warehousing and distribution operation recognises the investment weve made in product development over the last few years and reflects their confidence in us as a trusted supplier and partner for their future warehousing system needs, commented Frank Arico, CEO at AquiTec.
