OBID i-scan UHF readers facilitate US-performances in Europe

In November 2004, the OBID i-scan UHF long-range reader ID ISC.LRU1000-EU was certified according to EN 302208, thereby allowing the space-saving, real operation of several readers without any loss of performance regarding ranges and reading velocity. Furthermore, the identification of imperfectly tuned, aligned or covered transponders has been improved significantly.

A UHF-reader acc. to EN 302208 can use 15 different operation channels, among them 10 channels for 2 Watts-operation. According to EN 300220, only one channel can be used, which, in addition, is subject to temporary use restrictions.

The FEIG reader offers the "listen before talk" function with a sensitiveness of 96 dBm, as specified by standard EN 302208. Thus, the reader can recognize other transmitters on each of the defined 15 channels and will automatically find out an optimal transmitting- and sending channel for the reader.

The listen before talk-function allows the space-saving operation of 5-10 readers without relevant interferences among each other by using the currently defined transponder protocols (ISO 18000-6-A and B as well as EPC Class 1). The use of protocols and modes in accordance with EPC Generation 2 facilitates the use of more than 10 readers in close vicinity to each other.

Apart from the European version, we offer the US-reader variant ID ISC.LRU1000-FCC with compatible interfaces and functions. This enables global operating system integrators to use compatible reader variants, without having to adapt the reader installation and the arrangement of application interfaces between countries with FCC- and EC-regulations.
The reader software can be updated and the hardware will support EPC Generation 2-protocols starting from 2005.
