Geest freshly prepared for real-time performance management

Geest plc, one of the leading fresh prepared foods and produce companies in the UK, has completed a deal with MVI Technology for its real-time performance management (RPM) software solution eventsengine. Following an eight-week implementation period the system has gone live at its prepared foods site at Sutton Bridge in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Geest produces a wide variety of products, from bread, pasta and pizza to salads, dips and sauces, prepared fruit and ready meals. The UK operation accounts for approximately 90% of sales and the company also has a presence in Belgium, France, Spain and South Africa, employing 10,000 people across the business.

Until the introduction of MVI Technology, any measures of performance and analysis of productivity across the manufacturing process had been carried out manually by internal and external consultants, with no quantifiable information available and notably, none allowing for the impact of human activity and input on the production line.

Geests main focus for business enhancement has been to reduce waste through improved Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Net Machine Efficiency (NME), while increasing productivity of labour. MVIs eventsengine provides a tangible, live measure of rate, yield and utilisation for the company, enabling Geest to fine-tune its business processes, resulting in an accountable improvement in on-time delivery and a reduction in overtime levels.

Brian McMonagle, manufacturing manager for the Sutton Bridge, says: Eventsengine fully informs the business and the people who work within it so that they can take specific actions based on their current performance its the real time performance management tool weve needed all along to optimise our processes and produce the levels of operational excellence which will drive our business forward.
