MAP&GUIDE, the leading provider of professional mapping and routing solutions, has released a series of new products and updates, further tailoring its product range to the specific needs of the transport and logistics market.
map&guide professional upgraded
These include a new version of its flagship map&guide professional, an all-inclusive platform for calculating distances and routes which displays addresses clearly on a map and transfers itineraries for mobile navigation. This includes a new connection for online hotel booking via the Falk hotel service plus enhanced toll calculation features.
New map&guide fleet manager
It is complemented by map&guide fleet manager, a new tracking tool which enables fleet managers to keep their vehicles in constant check.
The new release of map&guide professional route planner contains up-dated and improved map material alongside a new connection to HRS (hotel reservation service) for online hotel booking via the Falk hotel service makes planning travel even more convenient.
The new fleet manager software module is based on ptv fleet service technology. GSM vehicle tracking works via the driver's standard mobile phone. The location of the phone, and therefore the vehicle, is determined by the mobile phone network.
Back at headquarters, the position of each vehicle appears onscreen on the map&guide map, making it easy to keep track of the fleet. Headquarters and drivers communicate with each other by SMS. In such a way, route changes, new destinations or status reports can be exchanged immediately between the two.
map&guide transport has also been updated and now has a new mobile navigation interface. This enables users to export planned routes and lists of stop-off points to an appropriate mobile device. Also it is now possible to use specific data from the current Falk Trucker Atlas to plan hazardous goods transport, for example.
The new version also includes enhanced toll functions, enabling the booking of toll-paying stretches online. Once again the map material has been updated and now includes the new EU accession countries.
The software has a new practical feature for scheduling which allows users to categorise vehicles by their load capacities, import orders from other programs and then assign them to individual routes at the push of a button.
map&guide toll pro
map&guide toll pro gives users total control over transport costs. Using the Excel template provided, the program calculates up to eight stops per route including distances, route costs and a breakdown of toll charges. It also controls individual journey statements from Toll Collect. The new version of the software provides for overall improved cost transparency in terms of costing, controlling and billing.
These are pragmatic solutions for medium-sized transport and logistics companies; solutions that support and optimise the entire workflow, from planning routes, to scheduling to positioning vehicles en route, says managing director, Ernest McCutcheon. And with map&guide fleet navigator and Falk Navigator 2 professional, medium-sized users have two out-of-the-box tools that equip their fleet for mobile navigation.
Both modules work with standard map&guide products and can therefore be used straight away to guide vehicles directly to their destination.
