Intermec CK1 Handheld Computer

Companies of all sizes can now realise the benefits of automatic data collection with Intermec's CK1, an ergonomic, pocket-sized, fully functional Linux-based handheld computer for efficient and economical batch data collection. The CK1 is ideal for applications such as parcel pickup and delivery, inventory management, order entry and price verification.

Powerful yet affordable, the CK1 offers a large display for easy viewing and the choice of an integrated laser bar code scanner or highly responsive linear imager. The CK1 provides users with the features and functionality found in much larger and more expensive terminals. Powered by an ARM 7, 67-MHz processor, the CK1 has 16MB DRAM and 9MB Flash memory to support large look-up tables and data storage. Despite its robust capabilities, the compact size of the CK1 allows for easy single-handed operation, and an optional removable pistol grip handle is available for scan-intensive applications.

"The CK1 gives retailers a strong, flexible tool for increasing employee productivity and inventory accuracy without straining IT budgets," said Stuart Scott, Intermec Director of Business Development and Marketing. "With simplified programming tools, pre-loaded applications and the choice of imager or scanner, all in a light, rugged ergonomic design, the CK1 helps increase efficiencies and add to a company's bottom line."

The CK1's large, scratch-resistant 160 x 160 pixel display with backlight provides user-friendly navigation in all lighting conditions, as well as versatility in application design. Continuing the Intermec legacy of rugged construction, the CK1 withstands multiple 1.2-metre drops to a hard surface. A replaceable Lithium-Ion battery supports extended rigorous use and a fast 3-hour recharge. Numerous docking options are available including a single-slot RS-232 or modem dock and a multi-slot USB dock.

The combination of the Linux operating system and Linux programming tools provides end-user applications with multi-tasking capabilities. The CK1 also includes MCL rapid application development tools to offer a range of choices for application development. A selection of sample MCL applications are pre-loaded on each terminal, and customers with no programming experience can use MCL Designer to create complex applications in minimal time. MCL features a robust communication capability for reliable data transfer, and the means to automatically update applications as units connect.
