Star Micronics has extended its suite of software tools to provide feature-rich solutions that work above existing POS software, offer power and paper saving features, powerful marketing tools as well as ease of integration.

These solutions will be on display on the Star stand (310) at Retail Business Technology Expo 2016 (9-10 March, Olympia, London).

PassPRNT – a new problem-solving sophisticated printer data relaying application available for iOS that is available immediately from the App Store. Other operating systems are to follow. PassPRNT receives data from an iOS application such as Filemaker Go or any web browser including Safari / Chrome using a URL scheme to print on a Star Bluetooth printer. Star's PassPRNT companion App allows printing to both Star desktop and mobile printers from a web browser or any application supporting the URL scheme. The simple and user-friendly 'one tap' request to print from any iOS device to a Star Bluetooth printer is now possible. The operating system is capable of automatically switching from a host application to the PassPRNT application making this a valuable, time-saving tool for any system integrator / developer.

Other software and developer tools available from Star include:

ProxiPRNT – Star's ProxiPRNT allows remote access of POS peripherals based on the physical proximity of the tablet of smartphone device being used, enabling the salesperson to automatically select and print to a nearby printer as well as ensure that a cash drawer can only be opened wirelessly if the salesperson is standing next to it. Based on BLE (Bluetooth low energy) technology, Star's ProxiPRNT works with both iOS and Android devices and provides a low cost, flexible solution that is an additional layer to Star's easy to integrate SDKs for any mobile POS application.

AllReceipts – working independently of a retailer's POS software and with zero development required, Star's new digital receipting service AllReceipts offers retailers a free of charge, fast route to providing the customer with a digital copy of a print receipt as well as access to analytics, an in-store customer survey and device management tools. Triggered by a traditional printed receipt, a digital copy of the receipt is sent to the AllReceipts App on the customer's mobile with no email address or mobile number required. Receipts can only be claimed once and are then deleted, while saved receipts can be viewed by date or by retailer on the customer's device.

WebPRNT – Star provides enhanced connectivity with its platform agnostic WebPRNT solution. Offering a low cost and versatile solution to cloud/web based printing issues, WebPRNT enables simple platform agnostic receipt printing direct from web based applications using Star's WebPRNT Browser for a Star mobile printer or a 'plug-in' interface upgrade option for desktop POS printers.

FuturePRNT – available with the TSP100 futurePRNT series. This free-of-charge value added software enables users to install high volume, customer setups without even taking the printer out of its box. All settings are stored on the PC removing the need to pre-configure the printer itself, providing time and maintenance savings. Retailers can also create branded and motivating receipts to inspire customers with futurePRNT's Receipt Redesign tools as well as benefit from power and paper saving features.

StarPRNT Intelligence – Star has unified the driver suite for all conventional printers into a single download called StarPRNT Intelligence. This allows connection configuration and testing for the majority of Star conventional desktop and kiosk printers.

Annette Tarlton, Marketing Director, Star Micronics EMEA, states: "Star's extensive suite of industry-leading POS software and developer tools demonstrates our commitment to facilitating ease of integration, as well as providing enhanced communication with the customer alongside powerful marketing / analytical tools for retailers."
