Fast-growing The Printed Cup Company (TPCC) has contracted to install STL Warehouse Management Solution (WMS) to help it efficiently process more than 1 million items per month through its warehouse and distribution operation, and to help it plan and manage further growth.

The Printed Cup Company's extraordinary growth

The Lancashire-based manufacturer produces a wide range of paper cups, food containers and accessories, offering free artwork production and optional turnaround times to suit clients' needs. The company currently creates between 200 and 300 new designs each month, and is believed to be the fastest paper cup manufacture in the world, having products ready for dispatch in as little as 24 hours from order. It also prides itself on its ability to keep customers updated throughout the process.

Further, TPCC has a distinguishing environmental stance: it actively supports organisations in recycling paper cups, and runs a plant-a-tree scheme in collaboration with Green Earth Appeal to offset the carbon footprint of printed cups.

This combination of speed, customer communication and ethics has quickly earnt TPCC an enviable reputation, along with a rapidly expanding customer base that has necessitated an increase from eight to 32 employees in just three years.

Growing pains

However, with the many possible variables in each order, such a fast-growing client list, and the firm commitment to a rapid and reliable service, TPCC recognised that it needed to automate and integrate all of its core processes.

Mark Woodward, CEO of TPCC, said, 'In order to sustain such high standards as we grow, we recognised that we'll need exceptionally reliable management software that will enable us to keep very tight control of orders, schedules and budgets.'

STL provides the perfect management solution

After a broad search, the company chose STL WMS. TPCC was impressed by the fact that this one solution can seamlessly support all of its current processes - from receiving goods and inventory management to dispatch – and by the system's proven robustness.

TPCC also liked STL WMS's ability to scale up to support the company's anticipated future needs, and the fact that its data can be easily collated and queried to help the company's executives plan their next steps.

Mark Woodward, CEO of TPCC, said, 'By providing us with continuous, accurate and real-time information, STL WMS will help us to stay right on the ball and deliver our customers great products with a terrific service every time – even at the break-neck speed at which we're growing.'
