Motion Computing has unveiled two powerful new tablet PCs -- purpose-built for the needs of the manufacturing, utility, oil and gas, mining, emergency services, and healthcare markets.

The new F5m and C5m rugged Windows-based tablets make field workers more productive by increasing efficiency, helping to reduce data capture errors and improving real-time communication resulting in better decision making and labour cost savings.

Within the iconic design of the F5m and C5m, Motion has packed in critical upgrades to connectivity, processing power, security, and image capture technology.

Both the F5m and C5m Tablets now include new ultra high-speed 4G capabilities that equip mobile workers with twice the bandwidth to boost productivity capabilities in the field. In combination with the tablets' integrated solution ensures reliable voice and data support in both high-traffic urban locations and remote job sites.

"Many of our emergency services and utility customers operate within dense metropolitan areas where mobile network saturation can impact 4G wireless performance," explained Ian Davies, country manager, Northern Europe for Motion. "Not all enterprise mobile devices are compatible with the latest 4G wireless technology, which means signal availability and data speeds can be unpredictable. In a consumer context, loss of data means you cannot access Facebook or YouTube. For businesses, it can mean thousands of pounds lost in downtime. With Motion's investment, we are ensuring that those customers can access the fastest networks available when using our tablets."

However, in today's data-driven environment, it is critical that security is not compromised as data speeds – and consumption – increase. Building on Motion's existing focus on protecting customers' most sensitive data from malicious attack, the F5m and C5m enable multi-factor authentication capabilities through a combination of password, fingerprint scanner and optional smart card reader. The F5m and C5m also now feature an optional self-encrypting drive*, and the security profile is further enhanced with the inclusion of WinMagic's SecureDoc full disk encryption software and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) as standard features. Additional theft recovery protection and remote manageability options are also available with the optional Absolute Computrace add-on.

Motion has also upgraded significantly the processing power of the F5m and C5m series. The addition of 5th Gen Intel Core processors (Broadwell-U 2+3), including the highest performing i7 vPro chipset, provides the power to quickly move through computation-intensive applications, while increasing overall power efficiency.

"Although more workers are moving away from the traditional desk environment and towards a mobile structure, their data processing needs remain the same," said Tom Garrison, Vice President PC Client Group and General Manager of the Business Client Platforms Division at Intel. "It's our job to ensure they have the same superior processing capabilities on devices such as Motion's F5m/C5m Tablets as they do on a desktop or laptop. With this latest generation of CPUs, we deliver the power – and power management – capabilities that will allow for users' long-term growth on these mobile devices."

Motion's tablets continue to preserve existing IT investment by enabling customers to leverage current application software, back-office integration, security, and mobile device management infrastructure. By providing backward compatibility with existing peripherals, Motion customers can refresh aging F5 or C5 platforms and continue to use the workflow-enabling peripherals they purchased with earlier generations of the tablet.

Motion's tablets are built to survive challenging work environments and cater to mobile workers that are in and out of vehicles frequently, operating on worksites in demanding conditions – including direct sunlight, rain and dust. The tablets' 10.4" high resolution Corning® Gorilla Glass display incorporates Motion's View Anywhere technology to provide optimal visibility in direct sunlight and support superior data capture in the field. The new 8 MP rear camera – combined with the SnapWorks™ by Motion camera application – makes it easy to capture, annotate and share the higher resolution images required for inspection and documentation workflows. Additionally, Motion's EasyConnect RFID Long Range Reader is perfect for logistics and inventory management.

Proof of the F5m Tablet's durability is also backed by its MIL-STD-810G certification for ruggedness, IP54 certification against dust and water ingress, and CID2 certification for use in hazardous environments where explosive gasses may be present.
