GT Nexus has announced that Patagonia has been awarded its Supply Chain Innovation Award for continued efforts in creating a Responsible Supply Chain.

"Leadership is what drives industry change," said Sean Feeney, CEO of GT Nexus. "Innovators lead. They embrace new technology, show the world how great it is and others follow suit. Operational innovation and transparency enables Patagonia to do things that make a difference. This award recognises Patagonia for proactively innovating on new technology to drive change in the industry."

"Every business decision we make hinges on our drive to become more socially and environmentally responsible," said Doug Freeman, COO of Patagonia. "'Walking the talk' means building deep, collaborative partnerships with our suppliers to continually seek improvement in working conditions and reducing environmental impact."

The Supply Chain Innovation Award recognises Patagonia's commitment to partnering with its suppliers as it improves supply chain processes. The company brings a culture of respect and collaboration to working with suppliers, while staying focused on creating social value and decreasing its environmental impacts.

Patagonia's program is built around a four-fold supplier certification process to ensure quality and responsibility. The program focuses on:

  1. Production Capabilities
  2. Quality Processes
  3. Social Responsibility
  4. Environmental Responsibility

Customized Collaboration to Promote Transparency & Quality

GT Nexus's AppXpress helps Patagonia better communicate and collaborate with suppliers. The platform as a service (PaaS) tool is configurable to specific business needs. Patagonia leveraged it for Document Management, Social and Environmental Compliance and Quality Control Audit applications – while directly supporting the company's social and environmental responsibility efforts.

The Supply Chain Innovation Award was announced at Bridges, the premier cloud supply chain event hosted by GT Nexus June 1-4, 2014.

"Companies have more at stake in their supply chains than ever before, but most still lack transparency beyond the enterprise four walls," added Feeney. "Leaders like Patagonia use the GT Nexus network to operate in a hyper-connected environment that breaks down silos and enables them to orchestrate transparency and sustainability on a broader scale. This is the future of supply chain orchestration."
