Over 6,000 UK pharmacies are to benefit from improved network performance and efficiency following an IT infrastructure services deal between Redcentric and Cegedim Rx, supplier of healthcare software solutions to the UK pharmacy market. The contract, which includes the additional services of managed data backup and 3G failover, sees Cegedim Rx - which provides software to more than 50 percent of UK pharmacies – also renew its commitment to Redcentric for a further three years.

Clive Eckett, Sales & Marketing Director from Cegedim Rx explains, "One of the key influencers in our original decision was the knowledge that Redcentric had this end-to-end portfolio. And while the early focus was all on taking the network to a new level, we were always aware that we could leverage additional managed services to strengthen our own commercial proposition."

Cegedim Rx originally chose Redcentric as its network provider in July 2009 due to its proven ability to provide high quality and reliable connectivity to N3 – the internal NHS network, value for money and flexible service offering which can fit its future strategic direction. This has enabled Cegedim Rx to benefit from a heightened degree of confidence in its ability to deliver a consistent service offering and continue its market dominance through improved innovation, performance and client care.

The recent addition of Redcentric's managed data backup and 3G failover services will further improve the performance and availability of Cegedim Rx's IT network infrastructure to provide increased speed, uptime and reliability that pharmacies now demand.

Eckett comments, "We have made huge efforts to differentiate ourselves from our competitors and have been assessing the potential of new IT offerings to our client base to add further value, sharpen our point of difference and raise the barrier to exit . We've worked very closely with Redcentric and the first fruits of our collaboration can be seen in the successful deployment of two new solutions: managed backup and 3G failover, wrapping further efficiencies, time-savings and resilience around our core offer."

Eckett adds, "We're already examining the rest of the Redcentric portfolio and there are some hugely exciting opportunities to mine that accord perfectly with our strategic direction."
