The Microlise Transport Conference a key event in the transport industry's calendar. With over 400 delegates and a raft of positive feedback in 2013, the news is spreading quickly... so much so that the 2014 event is being held at the 650 seat auditorium and main exhibition hall at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry to accommodate the increased demand. With over 400 delegates already registered, this year's conference is expected to be fully booked.
The Microlise Transport Conference is focused on helping fleet operators reduce operating costs, improve health and safety, increase their service levels and reduce their impact on the environment.
Held annually, the conference offers managers and directors who operate a fleet of vehicles the opportunity to stay informed of developments within the industry, gauge opinion of industry governing bodies, network with their peers and to stay up to date with the very latest developments in technology.

With a mixture of governing bodies, like the DVSA, CILT, Department for Transport and the FTA, there will be plenty of valuable information and industry insights. Steve Agg, CEO at CILT will open the conference with an overview of the recently published CILT vision report which outlines the future of the UK's transport infrastructure. Steve will also explain the thinking behind the vision and the likely impact on the industry.
Theo De Pencier, CEO, Freight Transport Association (FTA) will follow Steve, addressing the conference with an overview of the FTA's activities over the last 12 months and will explain the Association's objectives and ambitions for 2014 and beyond.
Traffic Commissioner for West of England, Sarah Bell, will speak about the need for safe and dependable transport in the UKs society and economy. As regulators of the commercial vehicle industries, traffic commissioners play a vital role in managing risks to road safety, protecting fair competition and promoting the running of punctual and reliable passenger transport which includes their responsibilities over operator licensing and the conduct of vocational drivers. Sarah will explain to the conference how traffic commissioners meet these objectives and update delegates on key developments in operator licensing.
In June 2013 the Government announced that the DSA and VOSA would merge to form a new agency, the DVSA. Alastair Peoples, Chief Executive Officer of the new Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency will explain the role of this new agency, its aims and objectives and how it will help operators protect their fleets, their drivers and their OCRS.
Responsible for surface strategy & planning for surface transport, Glen Davies, Programme Manager Freight & Fleet Programmes at Transport for London will discuss the current strategy for the haulage sector in London, the importance of the FORS initiative, the current thinking on improving safety on the Capitals roads and the changes that are planned for the future.
Big hitters from the logistics sector like DHL, Maritime, Downtons and NFT will be speaking at the conference offering an insight into how they have saved fuel, improved health and safety and improved customer service.
Experiencing strong growth, Mark Albiston, Operations Excellence Director at Hewden Plant Hire will explain how technology is playing a major part in driving efficiency through the business and improving customer service.

Injured by an IED in 2009 in Sangin, Afghanistan, Captain Tony Harris is a below knee amputee with other injuries as a result of the blast. Inspired by others in the Defence Recovery process he will show that incredible feats can be accomplished. Ambassador for Help 4 Hero's, Tony will share with the conference the amazing achievements during the extreme challenge that is the Dakar Rally.
