Retail technology solutions' provider, Box Technologies, has promoted long-serving employee and operations manager, Conor Begley to operations director. He took on the new role from January 1st, 2014 and - at the same time - accepted a position on the company's Board.
As operations manager, Conor oversaw the development of areas including procurement, logistics and production and assembly within the manufacturing and warehouse facility at the Thame headquarters. The new operations director role takes on a broader remit, and will include the management and development of new products into new markets.
Conor Begley comments: "The business has evolved a great deal over the last few years and there is now a real focus to launch new products into new markets. This presents real challenges to the operation of the company which, ultimately, has to evolve in line with these developments."
He will now have a team of four operations managers supporting him, with a fifth one set to join the business in the coming weeks. Given the planned business growth, each operations manager will look after areas including: business programmes, production and service, procurement and logistics.
Begley adds: "The operations function is now a bigger entity, hence the need to have managers responsible for individual areas of the business."
Conor Begley joined Box 15 years ago, initially as an account manager on the sales side of the business. He then moved into purchasing and eventually across to operations. He adds: "I am very excited about this new role. Over the years, I have seen Box grow and evolve, but the last few years have been pivotal. It's a great time to be involved in something which has so much scope for development, and being part of the overall direction and influence for the business will be hugely rewarding."
Russell Willcox, chairman adds: "Conor joined the business in a junior role, and has worked his way up. I have watched him grow and develop into an excellent business executive, and believe he is the best person to run the new operations team. He always looks ahead and at ways of improving the business, and his experience and lessons of the past will help him with this.
"Conor is an operations specialist with a marketing head on his shoulders - and his input at Board level will be invaluable."
