Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2013 is the industry's largest and most important annual gathering of CIOs and senior IT leaders. The event taking place in Barcelona from 10-14 November 2013 will gather more than 4,000 senior IT executives – including more than 1,600 CIOs.
In 2012, Gartner focused on how to advance business, amplify enterprise strategy and determine the long-term direction of information technology throughout the organization. Twelve months later, the challenges for IT leadership are even greater – requiring IT leadership to have a thorough understanding of digital technologies and how they can be used for competitive advantage.
Faced with increasing demands from their customers, employees and competitors who are acquiring higher levels of IT fluency, business leaders are turning to IT to lead the way. "Leading in a digital world represents a complex and new set of skills that every CIO needs to arm themselves with," said Peter Sondergaard, senior vice president at Gartner and global head of Research.
Over four days, more than 100 Gartner analysts and over 125 solution providers will help delegates accelerate growth, create new connections and drive greater agility. The event will feature 10 tracks organised by role:
- Business Intelligence & Information Management
- Business Process Improvement
- Enterprise Architecture
- Infrastructure & Operations – Data Centre, Server, Storage and IT Operations
- Infrastructure & Operations – Mobile, Client Computing and Communications
- Program & Portfolio Management
- Security & Risk Management
- Sourcing & Vendor Relationships
Each track is designed to address the key priorities and challenges organisations face. The Symposium/ITxpo role experience includes the targeted sessions and networking opportunities organisations need to successfully transform their IT strategies.
Alongside these tracks will run the CIO Program at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo. It is designed based on feedback from more than 2,000 CIOs and includes analyst presentations, problem-solving workshops and meaningful exchange with your CIO peers. In a format specifically requested by CIOs, the program offers a rare opportunity to share real-world experiences with your peers while experiencing the proven value of Gartner advice and insight.
In addition, the event will feature two guest keynote speakers:
DANA S DEASY
Group Chief Information Officer, BP
CEO, Ferrazzi Greenlight, Inc
The conference will also include the Gartner analyst opening keynote:
