Office products distributor Spicers is equipping its Smethwick distribution centre with the latest automatic data capture and RF technology solutions and services from Peak-Ryzex as part of a major investment in the site. The site that has recently been expanded by 7,500 m2 to 17,000 m2 will use new equipment, including barcode scanners, handheld computers and truck-mount terminals, all running wirelessly over a Cisco RF network. Peak-Ryzex's technical support, project management, site survey audits and maintenance services back this latest technology purchase by Spicers.
Spicers has also invested in the Wavelink Avalanche MDM (mobile device management) solution and will be using Peak-Ryzex MDM deployment and training services to help manage this in the near future. The solution will give a single centralised point of mobile IT management and control across its sites, regardless of brand or technology. MDM stops the cost of commissioning mobile computers, updating software and supporting users spiralling out of control and ensures maximum uptime of all devices managed by the system. The MDM solution will also control and reduce hardware costs as it provides asset tracking and management of application software and users.
The selection of Peak-Ryzex is consistent with Spicers investment for growth and a reliable and robust operation to enable further improvement upon already high levels of fulfilment - a key area of advantage in the highly competitive office products market.
