Last year's Microlise Transport Conference was described as a "significant event in the telematics calendar" by m.Logistics' Sharon Clancy.

The Microlise Transport Conference 2013 is focused on helping fleet operators reduce operating costs, improve health and safety, increase their service levels and reduce their impact on the environment.

Held annually, the conference offers managers and directors who operate a fleet of vehicles the opportunity to stay informed of developments within the industry, gauge opinion of industry governing bodies, network with their peers and to stay up to date with the very latest developments in technology.

At this year's conference Microlise will be hosting over 400 delegates making this the biggest transport conference in the UK. The event is being held at the East Midlands Conference Centre on 14 May 2013.

Bob Harbey, Executive Director at Microlise commented, "After the great success of last year's conference and the positive feedback we received, we decided to move the event to a location that could accommodate everyone that wants to attend making it the largest event of its kind in the UK"

With a mixture of governing bodies like VOSA, RHA, Department for Transport and CILT, there will be plenty of valuable information to be gathered. Geoff Dunning, CEO of the RHA will open the conference by reflecting on the difficulties that transport operators have faced over the last 12 months and the challenges that lie ahead. Beverly Bell, Senior Traffic Commissioner at Department for Transport will outline her mission to champion safe, fair and reliable passenger and goods transport. Beverly will explain the important role that the Traffic Commissioner plays in the industry and give her view on how technology can contribute to keeping Britain's roads safe.

Big hitters from the logistics sector like Brit European, Fowler Welch, Chamberlains and BidVest will be speaking at the conference offering an insight into how they have saved fuel, improved health and safety and improved customer service. Brit European will also be displaying one of their bio-fuel tractors and will be sharing the pros and cons they've experienced.

The conference will also feature companies operating light commercial fleets. Speakers from Sky and Interserve, as well as DHL who operate a mixed fleet, will be discussing the quite different challenges they face compared to their HGV counterparts.

Mark Cartwright from the FTA will also be on hand to offer valuable insight into their Van Excellence programme.

Consistent with the sheer scale, the Microlise Transport Conference 2013 has been sponsored by MAN trucks who will be displaying a number of their Euro 6 vehicles at the event. Motorola; the conferences mobility partner; will also be displaying their range of hand-held devices that are in common use in the transport section

"We're delighted to have two massive names like MAN and Motorola sponsoring the conference. "Bob Harbey continues, "With Quintin Willson chairing the conference, Ben Collins sharing his experiences as one of the UK's top stunt drivers, appearing in Top Gear and a number of James Bond movies, the day promises to be both informative and entertaining."
