Android systems exhibiting a very favourable price-performance ratio are emerging on the logistics market. The new PTV Navigator truck version 8 for Android comes with a slim product and navigation design, finger-operated menus and new features. It is the first navigation system which provides the full range of Ecotaxe functions. This new green tax for trucks will be introduced in France, starting 1 October 2013. Version 8 is now available.
The new slim design and the Quick menu enable easy selection of the basic functions, such as switching to 3D, night vision and volume control. Drivers can choose several map designs from the menu and the intelligent information display always shows the correct view. The destination and properties can also be selected via the menu. The risk and speed alert systems warn drivers of speed traps and speed limits via audio and visual alerts. There are even two different UI designs, i.e. classic and modern.
The simple and intuitive software-to-software interface (API) allows for communication with other programs and provides numerous opportunities for interaction. That way, users can link the navigation system to scheduling applications in order to allocate the orders to drivers and handle many other tasks.
World premiere: Ecotax features included
PTV Navigator 8 is the first navigation system which takes all Ecotax-relevant information into account. For example, it indicates which parts of the route are subject to Ecotaxe road tax, including the number of kilometres, and shows where to find Ecotax services centres. Here, the Ecotax on-board units are installed for billing purposes. Another helpful feature: Toll and Ecotax routes can now be avoided during navigation.
