French Frozen Food firm optimises its delivery routes with Ortec

Sofrilog Distribution, the transportation division of the national network of Sofrilog Cold Storage, has chosen to implement Ortec's route planning solution. The company will combine reactive and optimised logistics to guarantee service combined with cost control.

Sofrilog, is supported by a network of 44 logistical cold storage platforms with a volume of 1,400,000 m3 and a freeze capacity of 1200 tons/day and offers all logistical services for frozen food products. It is aimed at various distribution networks like large distribution centres, chain stores, and business catering. Sofrilog Distribution is located south of Paris at the Rungis International Market (formerly M.I.N.). Every day they handle the regional and national transportation and the distribution for the points of sales, varying from one package to a whole load.

To Sofrilog the improved transportation answers to the need to have enough stock and at the same time to limit the stock. This increase in frequency of deliveries demands both reactive as well as optimised logistics, because of the rising cost of transportation. The route optimising software from Ortec satisfies both these needs. It suggests optimal routes to the destination to control costs and it respects the demands of the client for operational conditions like climate control (dry/fresh/frozen). An example is taking into account the organization schedules like Pick-up delivery.

The Ortec solution makes it also possible to gain time by organizing daily route planning, to make the process uniform and durable.
