The Skills Show has welcomed the support of a number of leading industry sponsors for the UK's biggest skills and careers event.  Buck and Hickman, DMG, Lincoln Electric, Festo and Car O Liner have all signed as official sponsors to the Skills Show 2012, taking place from 15-17 November at the NEC Birmingham.

The Skills Show is an annual celebration that inspires young people to find out more about the exciting opportunities in further education, skills and apprenticeships. The show provides opportunities for visitors to 'have a go' at new skills, get careers advice and access apprenticeships or real job opportunities from employers.

The Skills Show will highlight the opportunities that exist in industries such as engineering and manufacturing and visitors will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of a series of skills through the Show's 'Have a Go' programme.  For instance, official Sponsor Lincoln Electric will be giving young people the chance to learn basic welding techniques using a virtual welding system.   Car O Liner will be encouraging visitors to have a go at autobody repair including the chance to re-align a car using Bluetooth technologies and replicate the welding of a vehicle that would take place in a factory.

Ross Maloney, CEO of The Skills Show, said: "We are delighted to secure the support of leading industry sponsors whose presence is integral to the success of The Skills Show.  Their hands-on support and involvement really brings to life our aim to raise awareness of the importance of vocational skills – both to individuals and to businesses."

Tickets for the show are FREE.  For more information about The Skills Show, and to register visit:  www.theskillsshow.com
