Logistica turns to SNS for its WMS implementation

The efficient movement of goods and services in a warehouse is an enormously detailed and complex set of challenges, where one broken link in the chain can have negative consequences all the way down the line. That's why Logistica, supply chain experts in their own right, turned to SNS for the implementation of their Warehouse Management System (WMS). Logistica recognized that SNS has an acute understanding of all the intricacies of warehouse operations, and the capability to fine-tune warehouse operations to optimum levels.
 
The Infor WMS system implemented for Logistica has its work cut out for it: their "6th of October" warehouse is 32,000 square meters, of which 2,900 square meters are allotted for cold storage. Logistica's product storage needs are considerable as well: among their 13,224 SKUs are a range of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), food industry items, perishables, pharmaceuticals, and telecom products. The pallets, cases and broken cases that are handled are transacted on an average of 1,550 Receiving lines, 3,700 Picking lines and 2900 Shipment lines daily. That's a highly dynamic warehouse, and thus their management system has to be robust.

 
The scope of information – from Receiving to Shipping – that the Infor WM system needed to dynamically update, store and trackis significant:

• Manufacturing Date
• Expiration Date
• Airway BillNumber
• Client DeliveryNumber
• SKU Status
• Pallet Status
• SerialNumber

With 15,500 pallet positions (6,500 in cold storage) and a cross-docking operation on top, that's a mighty task that relies on the shoulders of the WMS, but SNS made sure that the software implementation was up to the demands. In addition to the setting up operating procedures and deploying the Infor WMS to match them, SNS also integrated the application with Carrefour's system GIEN, to minimize data entry and automatically synchronize both systems.
