TouchStar's range of touch-screen computers are used in businesses and industries requiring robust field automation, including fuel distribution, on-board sales on airlines and trains, van sales and field service organisations. The solutions, which can incorporate both standard and bespoke software and a range of integrated peripherals such as scanners, printers and multiple sensors and data logging interfaces are designed to increase productivity, improve accuracy, and save time for companies. TouchStar has announced the availability of the CE Series (CE-504 and CE-507) range of mobile computers.

Rugged. All-in-one.Versatile.
TouchStar reports that the CE-500 Series is a mobile computer range that gives clients all the power and functionality their applications demand, at a highly affordable price. The computers pack the functionality of a host of separate devices into one cost effective solution, offering the flexibility, versatility and ruggedness (the units are IP54 rated) that modern business operations demand. The Series is the perfect partner for all mobility applications and is based on the Microsoft Windows CE 6.0 Embedded platform.
GPS, Voice, Wireless and Bluetooth Capability
Multiple integrated wireless options meet the most demanding communication needs. These include a quad-band GPRS modem, GPS, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth. GSM voice is also supported utilising the internal microphone and speaker. Options such as Bluetooth allow an array of peripherals to be used, such as printers, barcode scanners and headsets.
Full telematics black box compatibility
With full telematics integration, the CE Series mobile computers can connect to existing 'black boxes', making full use of their GPS location data and GSM/GPRS communication. This reduces the hardware and ongoing communication costs as only one sim card is required. In addition, the units feature a CANbus port enabling connection to critical on-board data collection systems.
Fixed or Portable
TouchStar give you the flexibility of either a fixed or portable computer, with a choice of cradles to suit your application. With the portable option, the CE Series mobile computer becomes truly mobile, allowing software applications to be used inside or outside of the vehicle - whether at a customer site, or inside a warehouse for example. Typical off-vehicle battery life is 2-4 hours dependent on use, providing power for a full shift during a regular charging cycle.
4" or 7" LED Backlit Colour Touchscreen
The CE Series offers two base models. The CE-507 features a large 7" WVGA colour TFT LCD touchscreen, allowing for applications that feature rich, detailed and intuitive user interfaces. Perfect for optimum viewing of video content and sat-nav. Additionally, shortcut soft keys allow the most frequently used commands to be accessed with ease. The CE-504 has a more compact form factor than the larger CE-507 model but still offers a 4.3" WQVGA colour TFT LCD touchscreen, which is perfect for 'forms-based' applications.
Signature Capture and Proof of Delivery
Full signature capture is supported, allowing proof of delivery (POD) or service to be confirmed in real-time. Customers simply sign on the screen using the stylus which stores safely and securely in the device when not being utilised.
Highly Affordable
For a long time, the often prohibitive-cost of industrial mobile computers has been a barrier to their adoption. The CE Series breaks down this barrier - making high quality, rugged and feature-rich mobile computing available to all. It allows internal IT departments, external solutions providers and software developers/vendors to develop solutions easily and more rapidly. This means successful and cost-effective implementation of data capture solutions, ensuring superior return on investment for end users. The base price of the CE-504 unit is a mere 410 with the starting price for the 7" CE-507 being set at 495. Flexible payments terms, including lease and rental options, are available subject to terms and conditions.
