FleetMatics, provider of fleet management solutions for commercial fleet vehicles, is to showcase the huge productivity benefits of its GPS fleet tracking solution at FM Ireland (Dublin, RDS, 22nd-23rd February 2012, Hall 1 Stand: G19).
The FleetMatics system is already well proven in the Irish facilities management market with companies such as Emerald Facilities Services and The City Bin Co. using the system extensively. Visitors to Stand G19 at FMI will be able to experience a demonstration of the system and see all of its features firsthand.
For those in the facilities management sector, use of the FleetMatics GPS system can help to drive productivity. One of the immediate benefits is that the system can help to plan and optimise routes. For example, City Bin Operations Director Niamh Bray said: "I wanted to know where certain trucks were going and be able to plan routes to prevent any overlap. With the FleetMatics GPS tracking system I can look at a certain area, see where all of my customers are and group accordingly," she says. "This helps me schedule my routes. If I need to add another customer, I can look and see which truck would make the most sense and add that customer stop to their route."
As well as routing, the FleetMatics system can help improve productivity in a more dynamic fashion. Through the GPS fleet tracking system it is possible to tag vehicles so that their exact location and the operator and equipment held on board are known. Therefore, if a non-planned request comes in it is possible to direct the nearest vehicle with the right equipment for the task and let the customer know exactly how long until they are attended to.
Emerald Facility Services, which provides professional cleaning and facility services to commercial and public sector premises, has seen a measurable improvement in customer service and an increase in customer satisfaction since implementing the FleetMatics system. According to Ken Lyons, Operations Director at the company: "As each operative has regular clients it has been possible to build up an accurate picture of how much time a particular job takes. With careful planning, the number, type and location of jobs can now be optimised and this has led to an unexpected improvement in productivity."
Visitors to Stand G19 will also be able to learn more about the potential fuel saving benefits of implementing GPS fleet monitoring. It is estimated that at least a 10% fuel saving can be achieved through the system by monitoring such factors as vehicle speed, idling time and fuel card usage. With the continuing rise in the price of fuel, the Return On Investment provided by the fuel savings alone can help pay for the system many times over.
