Leading European provider of textile rental and cleaning services selects Ortec to optimise its distribution

Ortec has signed an international agreement with Elis, the European provider of rental and cleaning services related to workwear, hotel linen, sanitary devices, floor mats, plus drinks distribution. The contract covers the implementation of Ortec's solution suite for advanced planning and route optimisation. Ortec's advanced software solutions are being implemented as part of Elis' complete overhaul of its information system, enabling the company to optimise its distribution activities and reduce costs, while ensuring the highest quality of customer service.

Tactical and operational use
For Elis' logistics department, the deployment of Ortec's solution suite meets two of their main requirements. The first relates to tactical planning, whereby ORTEC Tactical Route Planning (Ortec TRP) is being used to reorganize the distribution routes. The objective is to increase the time it takes to optimise the routes while benefiting from greater control of route frequencies and a more optimal workload balance. The second requirement relates to operational planning and Elis are implementing  Ortec's advanced vehicle routing and dispatch solution, Ortec Transport & Distribution, to manage weekly schedules and address the daily number of unforeseen events (inserting an additional customer address into the existing route schedule, route modifications due to bank holidays, absent employee, ...).

Consistently higher service levels
The collaboration between Elis and Ortec will not only deliver cost, time and efficiency savings, but it will also bring about logistics enhancements while respecting existing commitments and links between clients and service agents.

As Elis management explains: "We selected Ortec because the company is first and foremost a major player in the field of planning and optimisation, and has a European presence. Furthermore, the software solutions fully meet our specifications and the Ortec consultants demonstrated a detailed understanding of our business sector."
