Can emerging trends in distribution, inventory management and collaboration improve your value chain optimisation? Why it is crucial to integrate inventory management and routing during the planning and execution stages in order to improve efficiency, compliance, and safety? How can new technology make inventory routing work in practice? These and other questions will be answered during the webinar (online presentation), presented by Janneke Meesters, Oil, Gas & Chemicals industry expert at Ortec.

The webinar, titled, "How new technology can bridge the gap between planning and execution" will take place on Tuesday, the 10 May 2011 at 14:15 GMT. Janneke Meesters: "Traditionally, companies have set up relatively static supply chains because they were unable to handle a more dynamic way of working. This is however, changing due to an increasing level of transparency. It is no longer sufficient or feasible for separate work streams to manage the planning and execution of your inventory replenishment and to look at supply silos. In addition to this value chain, optimization in general, rather than supply chain optimization has become more important, taking the subject from the work floor to the boardroom." Customer inventory levels, and therefore customer service levels have changed the goals of the planning process.

New technologies, including advanced demand forecasting, planning and optimisation techniques, enable companies to deliver on their promise to customers while keeping costs under control. Janneke Meesters: "In other words, the available technology can help you to bridge the gaps in your value chain and between the different stages of planning and execution."
