RFID Journal, the media and events company covering radio frequency identification (RFID), has announced that the IEEE Technical Committee on RFID (CRFID) will hold its fifth annual RFID event in conjunction with RFID Journal LIVE! 2011, being held on Apr. 12-14, 2011, at the Orange County Convention Centre, in Orlando, Florida.

The co-located IEEE RFID event, produced by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), will feature 33 research presentations peer-reviewed by the IEEE RFID Technical Program Committee, representing the state of the art in RFID research and development. The sessions will provide researchers with the opportunity to present their cutting-edge work in an interactive manner that will facilitate dialogue amongst industry professionals in an open forum.

"IEEE RFID has become the premier forum for researchers and industry experts to discuss the latest technical advances and innovations in the field of RFID," says Christian Floerkemeier, the general co-chair of IEEE RFID 2011. "The co-location with RFID Journal LIVE! provides a unique opportunity for the attendees of IEEE RFID 2011 to get insights into the latest business developments in the RFID industry."

The IEEE RFID conference will include visionary keynote speeches, presentations on the latest RFID advances from around the globe, and a full first day dedicated to workshops and a tutorial on the basics of radio frequency identification. Featured speakers will include Transcore's Jeremy Landt, Ph.D.; Disney Research's Joshua Griffin, Ph.D.; Matt Reynolds, a professor at Duke University and the former CTO of ThingMagic; Daniel Arnitz and Klaus Witrisal of Graz University of Technology; Intermec Technologies' Pavel Nikitin; and Dan Dobkin, a principal at Enigmatics Consulting and the author of The RF in RFID.

"IEEE RFID 2011 is the fifth in a series of conferences designed to address theoretical, technical and implementation issues related to RF-based identification and communications systems," said Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "We believe that by co-locating this event with LIVE! 2011, we can better serve the RFID industry and organizations that want to use the technology to drive business benefits."

RFID Journal LIVE! 2011 is the largest industry event, featuring eight industry-specific and how-to conference tracks, eight in-depth preconference seminars, three co-located events and 50 end-user case studies across more than 100 educational sessions. In addition, more than 175 RFID exhibitors will showcase their latest solutions in the exhibit hall, and two main demonstration areas will provide attendees with the opportunity to experience firsthand how RFID can be used to streamline processes and enhance efficiencies in a variety of supply chain applications.
