Imtech Logistics Software has announced that its LBASE Transport Management System (TMS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) is now available to customers in the UK logistics sector. The proven software, which can manage all logistics operations - from the receipt of an order to the invoice in a single integrated system - has been successfully implemented in many logistics organisations across continental Europe and is already used in the UK branches of many of these companies.

The key feature of LBASE is its Logic Interpreter, which allows companies to tailor processing, screens and workflows into the system that are specific to their customers. Users can define their own new functionality without needing to know how to program. This is particularly useful for third party logistics operators, as Imtech's UK country manager Rob Gibney explains:

"Our customers can provide a personalised, efficient and robust service to their customers through having a system that can be told what the customer's rules are and then apply them in a consistent way.

"If their clients wish to work in a certain way our customers can build their specific documentation, procedures and pricing and other facets into the system. This helps ensure smooth operations right down to the operator in the distribution centre (?) getting simple instructions that are appropriate for the operation. This means that rather than reorganising work patterns to fit the software, LBASE allows staff to work to simplified and familiar procedures that will reduce errors while improving productivity."

LBASE is available as a traditional hardware and software package and there is also a SaaS (Software as a Service) version. Additionally there is a web application LBASE Online, which gives customers worldwide access up-to-date information about the status of shipments and warehouse inventory.

Transport Management
LBASE TMS is suitable for logistics operations of all sizes. The base product manages all the processes for overland transport while additional modules are designed to handle the specific requirements of sea and air freighting.

The software enables the automation of transport management tasks and allows customers to amend workflows at any time. This guarantees a maximum degree of configurability and optimal data quality while up-to-date information is always available.

Key functions of LBASE TMS include automatic creation of requests for services, which can be processed manually by staff or automatically by the system. The software enables customer-specific additional attributes, such as despatch documents and consignment groups. LBASE also allows automatic acceptance of consignment data sent by EDI, manages unit load devices and facilitates the handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods. Operations can manage delivery charges, cash on delivery, loading and unloading, scanning as well as manual planning using drag & drop and rule-driven automatic planning. LBASE provides the user with an overview of routes and non-assigned orders, freight cost calculation and billing and will interface to applications such as route optimisation.

Warehouse Management
LBASE WMS is tightly integrated with the LBASE TMS (Transport Management System); users work in a single integrated system with the same graphical interface and functionality throughout. This means reference data, consignment and order data only need to be entered once for logistics operators to be given an optimum overview over the total supply chain and gain instant visibility of status information and cost transparency.

Multi-warehouse and multi-company, LBASE WMS is suited to all industries and can run anything from the smallest to the largest warehouse facilities. It manages batches, NVE/SSCC labels, SKUs, serial numbers, colours, sizes and expiry dates. The software allows a variety of storage and picking methods such as FIFO (First In, First Out), FEFO (First Expired, First Out) and route optimisation. Detailed reports for inventory information and order tracking can be generated and this can also be carried out over the Internet. LBASE supports document-driven and scanner-based processing and this best of breed system also interfaces to ERP packages.

Support
An Imtech helpdesk looks after customers for all questions and problems relating to LBASE, while Imtech's Support Packages guarantee swift and skilled help from its specialists to ensure a high degree of reliability when using the software.

In addition to telephone support LBASE customers can receive further services, such as an IT-infrastructure health-check and EDI processing, which Imtech can supply remotely to their systems. This avoids the need to have in-house expertise for LBASE maintenance, which is a significant cost saving for smaller logistics operations.

Rob Gibney concludes: "Using LBASE to reduce transport and staff costs will guarantee a rapid return on investment. The user-friendly system is extremely stable even with large data volumes, which guarantees a high level of security in daily use. Built up in modules the system will grow with the customer as their requirements develop and along with Transport and Warehouse Management there is a constantly growing choice of additional modules available."
