CAPLeasing and fleet management specialist Ogilvie Fleet is rolling out to clients a cutting-edge online fleet manager and driver vehicle quotation and ordering system that has been developed by leading fleet software provider Jaama. The system developed by the two organisations is a rarity among small and medium-sized leasing and fleet management specialists but will deliver major administration benefits to both Ogilvie Fleet and their customers.

Using real-time vehicle information sourced via Jaamas online link with motor industry information providers CAP, the new vehicle quotation system allows fleet managers and company car and van drivers to slice and dice data to compile their optimum vehicle solutions within pre-set grades and company specified requirements.

CAPs Motor Researchs New Vehicle Data Solution is billed as the most comprehensive database of new vehicle pricing, technical data and equipment options information available in the marketplace and a must have component in the business quotation systems of top-flight contract hire and leasing companies.

Ogilvie Fleet sales and marketing director Nick Hardy said: Previously we would produce individual quotes and email them to customers. But the instant functionality provided by the Jaama-developed system puts Ogilvie Fleet ahead of many of our SME leasing company competitors, which do not have the facility that we now have. Additionally, having piloted the quotation system with one of our clients we are now rolling it out to our entire sole supply customer base. This puts us ahead of many of the larger contract hire and leasing specialists, which often will not role such technology out to their smaller fleet customers.

Developed on Jaamas revolutionary Microsoft .NET2 technology platform, the system allows Ogilvie Fleet, which manages a UK-wide fleet of almost 10,000 cars and light commercial vehicles, to replicate individual customers fleet policies online.

As a result, drivers can only obtain quotes within the parameters of their respective grades and taking account of specific information, for example, in relation to vehicle manufacturers, models, equipment levels, emission standards, engine size, list price, P11d values, fuel type, fuel consumption, accessories and loading weight. The system also enables drivers to upgrade and downgrade their model choice and takes into account any cash contributions they make.

Mr Hardy explained: Every policy detail is held online and the quotation system is totally bespoke to each fleets model requirements. We now manage the whole vehicle policy on behalf of clients. We update policies when informed of changes by clients, while vehicle data is updated automatically online.

Introduction of the fleet and driver vehicle quotation system follows Ogilvie Fleets adoption of Jaamas sophisticated Key2 internet-based software last year. With Ogilvie Fleet focusing on the sub-250 vehicle fleet sector, Mr Hardy said: In partnership with Jaama, we are taking online functionality to the fleet masses. Launch of the vehicle quotation system is step one on a journey that will ultimately see Ogilvie Fleet offer the gold standard to all our customers.

We are now looking to go live with other online functionality including comprehensive live vehicle reporting for fleet managers, online driver licence checking and a web information portal for drivers. Ultimately fleet decision-makers and drivers will be able to manage their entire vehicle and fleet-related requirements online, view their individual history and track vehicle orders.

Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: The system has taken two years to develop in conjunction with Ogilvie Fleet. The advantages that the technology offers fleet managers and their drivers will soon be a prerequisite for all vehicle leasing and contract hire companies. Ogilvie Fleet has embraced the future and put themselves in an industry-leading position for a business servicing the SME marketplace. Vehicle providers that are unable to offer such a level of online services will struggle to compete.

Mr Hardy added: Jaama has performed a magnificent job. Their programmers are not just software experts but, crucially, they also understand the vehicle leasing market. As a result, development and launch of the system represents a true partnership between the two companies.
