JD Sports signs up for DPS as Web Based Routing and Scheduling Grows

The web based routing and scheduling solution from DPS International LogiXcentral, has seen dramatic growth in 2009. This confirms that the belief in Cloud Computing for the supply chain shown by DPS CEO Paul Palmer is fully vindicated.

The Software as a Service solution was launched in 2006 but took off in 2007. Following steady growth in 2007 and 2008, the use of the system over the last year has grown from its strong 2008 base and more than tripled.

One of the most recent companies to sign up for LogiXcentral is leading sports fashion retailer JD Sports. The company is the leading UK specialist multiple retailer of fashionable branded and own brand sports and casual wear and has 400 stores in the UK.

Matthew Kieras of JD Sports said the company chose LogiXcentral after comparing it with other well known desk top solutions.  The results we got were as good as or better than from traditional systems but the cost was a fraction of what we would have had to pay to install and support a desktop version.

Because we are charged on a pay-as-you-go basis, the costs of running the system are recovered immediately and we get immediate and very significant financial benefits.

Since launching LogiXcentral, DPS has created an unexpected change in companies attitude to routing and scheduling.  Mr Palmer said While we have had the expected take up by traditional users of transport planning systems, such as logistics service and transport companies, manufacturers and retailers we have also seen sectors which would never have considered using such tools using it and getting great benefit.

These service sectors include: local authorities; agriculture; home nursing services; smart meter monitoring; energy.
