Manufacturing & Logistics IT spoke with Rajesh Krishnamurthy, Vice President, global head SAP Practice, Infosys Technologies, about Infosyss regime of constantly refining and reinvigorating its own knowledge pool in order to ensure it is best equipped to address the manifold business and operational needs of its worldwide customer base.

Infosyss Rajesh Krishnamurthy believes a large part of the success of Infosys as a IT systems integrator, software developer and process management consultancy is due to its belief in, and adherence to, two fundamental practices; the continual development and enhancement of its own knowledge and skills sets, and also the keenness to listen to, and learn from, companies in order to provide them with the very best advice and solutions for their needs.
The importance of listening
While we provide our own systems and advice based on years of proven experience in a wide variety of industry sectors, we are also keen to listen both to what a company considers to be its key constraints and how it believes these issues are best resolved, Rajesh. We believe this is the best way forward rather than simply making our own decisions and taking a prescriptive approach. In adopting this strategy, we are better able to further our own depth and scope of knowledge and stay at the cutting edge of both business process and technological advancement.
Infosys manages and constantly updates its knowledge pool as part of an in-house methodology known as PRidE (Process Repository @ Infosys for Driving Excellence). PRidE is all about optimising knowledge execution across the globe, explained Rajesh. We make different facets of existing knowledge available to the right Infosys consultants for the right purpose. It is also mandatory for our consultants to continually input updated information after each project in order to ensure PRidE is constantly retained, sustained and reinvigorated in a carefully monitored way to avoid knowledge duplication. In fact, after each project we conduct a full service management review to ensure maximum knowledge is captured, with no leakage.
Infosys sets out to ensure the most suitable consultants with the best skills/knowledge sets are called upon for particular projects worldwide. It also ensures that these consultants are rewarded for the knowledge they add to PRidE through an incentivising scheme called K-Shop (Knowledge Shop). A companys biggest asset is the knowledge of its people, and Infosys is no exception, said Rajesh. As Infosys consultants contribute knowledge to PRidE, they can redeem knowledge currency units (KCUs) for books and other useful rewards. The aim is for our consultants to be encouraged as much as possible to consistently refresh and reinvigorate the pool of knowledge Infosys holds. Knowledge is our lifeblood and ensures that we continue to sustain our reputation as one of the worlds leading IT solutions developers and process management consultancies.

As a member of the Enterprise Solutions Executive Council, Rajesh defines the strategy, growth and investment plans for ES in response to client requirements and technology evolutions. He is responsible for managing the ES ecosystem comprising ERP vendors, consulting firms, alliance partners and analyst firms. Rajesh has a rich mix of European and North American experience in a career spanning 20 years. He is part of the Tier-1 leadership group at Infosys and a member of the board of Infosys, Sweden.
