Global supply chain optimisation provider Manhattan Associates has announced that Par B.V., a leading European importer and exporter of quality bags, has implemented Manhattan ILS: Integrated Logistics Solutions, built on Microsoft.NET,  to optimise its international supply network and to support its European Distribution Centre (EDC) in Tynaarlo, The Netherlands.

Par designs a large collection of ladies handbags, travel bags, backpacks and wallets in The Netherlands.  The bags are manufactured in China before being shipped back to the warehouse at Tynaarlo, where orders are fulfilled and distributed to retail and distributor clients in 45 countries around the world. To optimise its supply chain and warehouse operations, Par decided to implement a new supply chain system.

Par had previously relied on a heavily-customised Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to coordinate its enterprise and supply chain activities, however, the system had become prohibitively expensive to maintain. Par selected Manhattan ILS to work in a complementary fashion with Microsoft Dynamics AX and provide Par with mission critical systems at a significantly lower total cost of ownership.

We compared several supply chain solutions and eventually chose Manhattan ILS because it can be easily integrated with Microsoft Dynamics AX - it was the first supply chain software to be certified for Microsoft Dynamics - and because it is a broadly used and well-known solution with a great reputation throughout the supply chain industry, said Manfred Veltman, IT manager at Par.

Following the deployment of Manhattan ILS, Par has improved accuracy in the picking process, resulting in improved order fulfilment and enhanced customer service. Because the new system is RF-enabled, warehouse operatives are able to put goods away and pick orders much more quickly than they were able to previously. This has reduced operative workloads and improved overall warehouse efficiency. Furthermore, many of the automated tasks can be done remotely from the office and so fewer staff numbers are needed within the warehouse itself, said Manfred Veltman.

Another key advantage of Manhattan ILS is its reporting and analysis capabilities. Were still discovering some of the components from the huge range of options that Manhattan ILS offers for analysing our activities. Were confident that this aspect of the solutions functionality will enable us to improve our operations on a continuous basis, added Manfred Veltman.

Pieter Van den Broecke, managing director, Central Europe at Manhattan Associates, commented, With its Certified for Microsoft Dynamics AX status, Manhattan ILS is perfectly suited to companies with Dynamics AX and who need strong supply chain execution functionality. We have a fast-growing number of clients around the world, like Par, who have selected the two complementary technologies to operate in tandem. Manhattan ILS is so versatile, however, that it really can operate very well in a number of enterprise technology environments. Whatever the technology infrastructure, users can expect a fast deployment and a quick return on investment. Were delighted to see that Par is already experiencing increased efficiency and accuracy in its DC operations and look forward to continuing to support the company in the future.
