Sanderson, the publicly owned UK provider of software solutions to the Delivered Wholesale and Cash & Carry industries, has won a contract to supply its Wholesale Distribution solution to Gandhi Oriental Foods.
Gandhi Oriental Foods is a London based Cash & Carry and Delivered Wholesaler of Indian food products, serving restaurants, hotels and retailers in London and the South of England. The company has recently expanded, opening its second Cash & Carry, as well as a new distribution centre in Barking.
The company previously used disparate in-house systems for each area of the business. Following the recent growth, Gandhi Oriental Foods was keen to introduce a single integrated system to manage all areas of the business, with easy access from all sites. The Swords solution from Sanderson was selected for its proven ability to deliver these improvements.
The new system includes a full accounts package, complete with integrated profit and loss and balance sheet facilities which will replace a manual bookkeeping system. All aspects of accounts will now be integrated with wider business activity, enabling more efficient use of staff time by removing much of the manual work involved in stocktaking and accounting. Operating a single system also reduces errors and duplication that often occur when stock and sales order information are on different systems.
With stock management, replenishment reports and purchasing all managed via one system, Gandhi Oriental Foods is able to draw on real-time information and order report alerts to enable more accurate and effective buying. Dinesh Mody, Director of Gandhi Oriental Foods explains:
Staff used to have to go through the warehouse to check and manually record which specific items of stock had been sold. With Swords, we have accurate stock visibility enabling us to buy more efficiently. Having all this information available on screen and in real-time is essential for a growing business like ours; it saves so much staff time and effort.
