KOJ underpins growth with new systems from Enabler Wipro

Kamal Osman Jamjoom Est. (KOJ), a leading Middle East based retailer, with around 430 stores in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Greece has gone live with new Oracle-based retail systems implemented by Enabler Wipro, an international IT and business services company.

KOJ can now manage core business processes using Oracle Financials and Payroll and retail processes, including merchandise management, pricing, replenishment, ordering and buying, and importing, on a common platform across its four retail formats - Mikyajy, Nayomi, early learning centre and The Body Shop.

KOJ adopted Oracle Retail and Oracle Ebusiness suite in order to build a scalable, multi-national system that will enable it to expand outside its current territories and meet an ambitious plan to open stores in new markets while expanding in current markets.

Enabler Wipro will also implement data warehousing, reporting and warehouse management across two warehouses (one in Dubai and another in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) during April/May. AppWorx (UC4 Application Manager) was implemented to enable batch workload automation.  A second phase of the project, called SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timebound), will shortly begin, to enlarge the scope to embrace store operations and merchandise planning, which will enable KOJ to merchandise in greater detail by colour, size, style.

Thameem Rizvon Group IT Manager for KOJ said, A common platform that enables us to manage all our business and retail formats and supply chain will give us increased visibility, ensuring better and faster decisions. We will be able to reduce our total stocks and cut out-of-stocks in our stores.

He continued, We now also have a platform to support our future organic as well as non-organic growth, facilitate the adoption of global best practice in retailing, and improve internal processes by deploying a new IS/IT strategy.

Antnio Murta, Enabler Wipro VP Retail Services, said, KOJ clearly sees technology not simply as an automater but as a business transformer. Our role has been to implement best of breed systems, best practice in processes and manage change to ensure success and minimise business risk.
