Humber International Logistics Convention 2008

The Logistics Institute, part of Hull University Business School, is hosting the 2008 Humber International Logistics Convention on 5th June at 9.30am.

The third annual convention takes retail logistics as its theme and will feature presentations from leading retailers and academics on key topics in the industry.  It will provide delegates from retail and non-retail backgrounds with the chance to learn lessons in logistics from the fast-moving retail sector.

During the action packed half day event, delegates will have the opportunity to hear from some of the top retail experts including: Ian Stansfield, Distribution Director of ASDA; Duncan Kendal, General Manager Supply, Argos Direct; and Steve Whyman, Supply Chain and Systems Director, Halfords Group Plc.

Leading academics including John Fernie, Professor of Retail Marketing at Heriot-Watt University, and Professor in Logistics at Hull, David Grant, will offer cutting edge advice on managing supply chains.

The Business School is hosting the Convention as part of its Business Week 2008 activities which also include sponsoring and exhibiting at the Yorkshire International Business Convention on Friday June 6th.

Professor John Mangan, Director, Logistics Institute at Hull University Business School, said, The Humber International Logistics Convention promises to be a fantastic opportunity to learn about some of the critical issues facing retail logistics today and a great chance for networking during Business Week 2008.  It will appeal to organisations and individuals who operate within or have an interest in the field of retail and logistics.

Neil Waterhouse, Manager of RBS Commercial Banking for the Humber region, lead sponsors of the event, explains, Local contact and links with our customers is an important part of the Bank's service delivery. We are committed to working with local companies to help them achieve their long-term goals and prosper in the current economic climate.  We are delighted to sponsor the Humber International Convention for the second year."
