Abacus Group powers up with Strategix Software in GBP 2 million deal

Strategix, a leading business management software house, has been awarded a contract worth in excess of GBP 2 million over the next five years by European electronic components distributor Abacus Group plc to supply and implement its OneOffice software package. The OneOffice software will provide Abacus with a single business management platform across its entire European operations.

The Abacus Group includes a network of over 44 local offices and five warehouses across Europe. Abacus also has a business in Asia providing its European customers with a robust supply chain to the Group's manufacturing operations in the region.

Abacus undertook a strategic review of its entire operations to gain maximum benefit from its increased presence in continental Europe, particularly following the acquisitions of Deltron and Axess. As a result Abacus decided to acquire a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) package for all Group businesses.

Following this strategic review, Abacus conducted a competitive evaluation of several market-leading ERP solutions, including OneOffice from Strategix. Jeremy Wood, Abacus Director of Operations, said: 'After a rigorous analysis of our future requirements and a comprehensive assessment of the different packages, Strategix was found to offer the best solution. We have known them for a number of years and the winning factors were clearly the functionality and flexibility of the OneOffice package, Strategix' track record of delivering similar multi-national solutions in our industry, and the quality of their team. We speak the same language and they demonstrated a deep understanding of our market. These elements are critical to our future success and they sealed the deal.'

Abacus is building its reputation by offering highly personalised local customer service coupled with world class technical support. To deliver this in a cost effective and consistent manner across its many geographic territories, Abacus requires an integrated ERP that is flexible and able to adapt as the company grows.

The contract will be delivered in five main phases. The initial phase will build a group trading model including capabilities such as the sharing of inventory across the various Group companies. This will be quickly followed by a pan-European roll-out.

'OneOffice is an excellent solution, providing the functionality we need to meet our current needs and the ability to easily enhance the software as our business evolves. The Strategix team listen, question and respond - constantly exceeding our expectations. Strategix and OneOffice will have a major impact on our business, helping us gain maximum benefit from our increased presence in continental Europe.', Stefan Maja, Abacus Director of IT, commented.

'We are delighted to be working with Abacus on this major project. Our sector experience means we have a thorough understanding of our customers' businesses, which is fundamental to our ongoing success, and this partnership with Abacus is no exception. OneOffice will enable Abacus to adapt to the changing needs of their marketplace with increased agility, lower costs and less disruption to their business,' said Peter Lusty, Chief Executive, Strategix.
