Datalogic Mobile is the first company worldwide in the Auto-ID sector to install Windows Mobile 6, the new Microsofts operating system, on its device Datalogic JET.
Datalogic Mobile has announced that the American laboratories of the Microsoft certification organization have certified Windows Mobile 6 for use with the Datalogic JET professional PDA. Datalogic JETs introduction to the market with Windows Mobile 6 makes Datalogic Mobile the first company worldwide in the Auto-ID sector to install the latest version of the Microsoft mobile operating system on its device.
Datalogic JET with Windows Mobile 6 now satisfies all the markets needs in terms of mobile communication, interoperability, development and third party application compatibility while maintaining the same winning features of the Windows CE models in terms of robustness, environmental protection, architecture, etc.
Thanks to Windows Mobile 6, the Datalogic JET supports all types of e-mail access through the use of Outlook Mobile as well as all types of mobile communication, including VOIP. The PDA is still compatible with all Windows Mobile 5.0 applications, but it now also includes all the Microsoft Office Mobile applications, such as Word, Excel and Power Point Mobile.
The important Windows Mobile 6 certification confirms Datalogic Mobile as a pioneer in the mobile computing world, demonstrated throughout the years by its close collaboration with Microsoft. In fact, Datalogic Mobiles partnership with Microsoft regarding Windows systems goes back to 2002, when Datalogic started integrating its mobile computers with the Windows CE operating system, which was a platform designed for the professional world by Microsoft. The following releases of Microsoft Windows CE were progressively extended to key products in the Datalogic Mobile range for more demanding applications, such as warehouse logistics all over the world. The compact terminals also began using this operating system for retail applications.
Datalogic Mobiles openness to Windows Mobile again confirms its choice of putting great emphasis on applications in the world of outdoor mobility and responding to market needs of integrating this operating system even in in-store applications.
In 2008, Datalogic Mobile also plans to integrate Windows Mobile 6 in its other two key products: the Kyman mobile computer and the Pegaso PDA.
