Blue Vector triples RFID revenue in 2007

Large deployments and customer expansions lead to record results

Blue Vector Systems, a leading provider of RFID solutions for extending business process automation to the edge of a companys operations, has announced that its revenue more than tripled during the last year.  The significant increase was led by major deployments of shipping accuracy and remote inventory control solutions for Fortune 500 clients.

Highlights of the year included:

A major drug distributor accelerated the deployment of RFID for real-time tracking of life-saving specialty drugs to over 75 hospitals around the United States

A prominent retailer deployed a system to insure shipping accuracy at every dock door in one of the nations most advanced distribution centers, in the process RFID-enabling over 150,000 containers

A leading logistics firm deployed a Blue Vector system utilizing cellular networking to link item movement in non-networked sites with their current business processes

Deployments included a wide variety of sensor types, including short-range RFID (UHF and HF), long range RFID (semi-active, active), temperature, GPS and barcode.

2007 was a year of larger deployments, and for building out Blue Vector as a company, explained Nancy Anderson, Blue Vectors CEO. To support our growth, a large part of new hiring occurred in our professional services and customer support areas. Rolling out RFID across locations and integrating it into a companys operations requires a tight collaboration between the customer and their technology providers, and our experience in similar deployments is one of the key selection criteria that companies assess as they choose providers.

Blue Vector solutions address the most pressing supply chain and asset management issues facing large manufacturers, distributors, and retailers today, including the need to:

Monitor inventory in the field, whether it is in remote locations, vehicles, or customer sites

Improve shipping accuracy during highly manual operations such as picking, loading, transport and unloading of shipments

Track items at the item level in make-to-order or highly regulated industries

Control the movement of assets in large facilities

Were at a point in time where the ongoing progress in standards development has eased worries about technical obsolescence, and more evolved enterprise solutions are making larger deployments practical, says John Fontanella, vice president of research at AMR Research. Now we have early adopters that are moving to define their supply chain processes from the ground up with RFID in mind.
