Sage (UK) Limited has launched Sage 200 v.5, which includes modules for wholesale and retail and manufacturing businesses.

Following the successful launch of the Sage 200 integrated software suite in 2007, Sage 200 v.5 allows companies to improve their management and processes with further industry-specific software to meet their needs.

Sage 200 was developed to support mid-sized organisations and enable them to manage all aspects of their business operations including finance, marketing, distribution, industry specific functions, customer service and support.  Sage 200 v.5 customers will automatically get the benefits of the Sage 200 platform: Sage 200 Financials, which contains core ledgers to manage accounting processes, and Sage 200 CRM (Customer Relationship Management) to manage processes across sales, marketing, service and support teams.  Choosing the relevant modules from Sage 200 v.5 for their industry will give organisations specific applications for their business and IT needs, with the flexibility to add or change modules over time.

Different industries have very specific needs, from legislative requirements to unique processes that apply to individuals or locations, said David Pinches, Head of Software Group, Sage (UK) Limited. While Sage 200 manages the processes that are common to all businesses, such as finance, HR, or CRM, the vertical modules give our customers a greater ability to match technology to specific industry needs. We strive for continual product development and innovation that give our customers more control, flexibility and therefore productivity and profitability, and this is a big step in leading the way for more tailored integrated software for the market.

Sage 200 Wholesale and Retail

The Sage 200 Wholesale and Retail module builds on the Sage 200 Commercials package, which helps administer day to day activities such as stock control, pricing, sales order processing and purchasing, adding functionality such as variances (including size, colour, style). It also integrates with Sage 200 POS (Point of Sale), offering a complete customer-facing and back office solution.  Says Nigel Dawes, Product Manager for Retail at Sage: Companies using the software will see immediate benefits with the seamless flow of information from point A to B.  Additionally, Sage 200 Wholesale and Retail allows businesses to integrate their accounting and trading modules, so they can automate the delivery of customer orders, with effective stock management, to help them control their complete supply chain. This sees up to 80 per cent reduction in time spent in the back office across all ordering processes.

South to South, a retailer which imports Brazilian surf clothing, has deployed Sage 200 Wholesale and Retail to control its stock, provide accounting functions and till functions across its UK warehouse and retail outlets.  Because were a clothing retailer, the retail module with Sage is very useful, because we have lots of colours and sizes, and it has a clever feature that handles code creation, stock transfer and Purchase Orders, and simplifies that a lot for us, said Anthony James, Commercial Director of South to South UK Ltd.

Sage 200 Manufacturing

With over 30,000 manufacturing customers, Sage 200 Manufacturing module helps to meet delivery times by controlling the production process - from accounting to customer service, from the shop floor to sales and professional services to retail. It improves costs through better planning and monitoring/controlling of material and inventory processes and supports one-off manufacture-to-order and repetitive batch production.  Says Steve Tattum, Product Manager for Manufacturing at, Sage: The Sage 200 Manufacturing module is there to save time and costs associated with the supply chain, creating a leaner flow of activity through automatic purchase orders and improved planning.

Ian Mence, Business Development Manager of Bushell & Meadows, a manufacturer of complex engineering components, says: Sage 200 Manufacturing gives us a window to a lot more information. It saves us a great deal of time and money as it allows us to collect shop-floor information by product and by warehouse, perform more detailed financial analysis by cost centre, and plan and optimise resources by machine.

Sage 200 Construction

In addition to these new vertical modules, Sage released Sage 200 Construction in 2007.  Some of the significant new benefits and capabilities of this business software for the construction industry include multi-level contract cost control, CIS recording, verification and HMRC Revenue & Customs report submission, valuations, and applications for payment and retentions.

Sage software is used by more than 60,000 UK contractors representing nearly 32% of the construction industry. Perhaps the most significant advantage is that the software enables us to monitor the health of the business and take remedial action at a much earlier stage than ever before, said Danny Lucas, MD of construction firm S Lucas Ltd.
