Paxar, a global leader providing bar code, RFID and identification technologies for the retail supply chain and the supplier of Monarch products and services, has achieved EPCglobal Hardware Interoperability testing certification of Paxar's Monarch 9855 RFMP printer/encoder with the Alien Higgs Tag Integrated Circuit (IC).
The testing is part of an effort by EPCglobal Inc. to improve Electronic Product Code (EPC) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) hardware interoperability within the EPCglobal community.
The results of the Hardware Interoperability testing, conducted in MET Laboratories in Baltimore, MD substantiated the interoperability of Paxars Monarch 9855 RFMP printer/encoder with the Alien Higgs Tag Integrated Circuit (IC). Paxars printer/encoder was shown capable of reading the tags, writing to the tags, writing to several tags with consecutive serial numbers, and locking the tags. The 9855RFMP had previously been certified interoperable with the Impinj Monza 1A Tag IC.
"This is extremely significant because it signals a bold step forward in making EPC a reality in global commerce," says Nicholas Fergusson of EPCglobal Inc. "Paxar is showing leadership in participating in this testing and has positively positioned itself in this newly emerging marketplace."
