Blue Fountain Systems(BFS) has delivered a state of the art Blue SCM solution for major Japanese manufacturing company Yamatake Europe NV.
The web based application creates a virtual global warehouse, providing a series of tools which allow the client to see real time stock levels, shipping details and delivery reports on a worldwide basis.
Yamatake Europe is the wholly owned European subsidiary of Yamatake Corporation, a major Japanese manufacturer supplying a wide range of electronic and semi-conductor components throughout the world. The parts are produced and shipped to Yamatake Europe from the companies two factories located in Japan and China.
The Blue SCM application is a web based solution which handles incoming order processing, stock management, and the generation of purchase orders to the head office in Japan. The system is installed as a managed service running on a *Blue Box IX200 installed within the clients LAN.
One of the key features of the system is its ability to automatically calculate stock levels and order stock for up to 3 months in advance based on shipping information from both Japan and China on the 12 months sales forecast from clients. Because of the size and complexity of the system, the project was divided into 8 modules which were developed independently. This approach allowed the full system to be delivered within the pp3 months time frame specified.
Yamatake Europe has a particularly complex supply chain with parts being manufactured both in Japan and China for delivery to Europe. One of the key problems the company faced was the long delivery time for the goods ordered making the management of real time stock levels difficult.
To overcome this problem Yamatake Europe made the decision to create a central warehousing facility based in Europe which also included an assembly plant for parts shipped. A key requirement of this new facility was a solution which would deliver a central control point that provided visibility, control and overall management of the stock ordering process.
Blue Fountain Systems was selected as the preferred supplier based on the companies extensive experience of delivering customized business solutions at a cost comparable to most off-the-self packages. BFS consultants spent time with the customer staff in an envisioning and scoping workshop to determine the key goals and criteria for the Blue SCM system. From this BFS were able to tailor the Blue SCM application to meet the exact requirements of the customers specification.
