At the National Retail Federation Annual Convention & Expo in New York, Microsoft Corp. announced the release of Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS) 2.0

The product furthers Microsofts commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions to the retail market that combine ease of use, rich automation and complete integration with other Microsoft products and technologies.

Our vision is to offer small and midsize retailers powerful and affordable technology innovation that drives strategic value this is now a reality, said Satya Nadella, corporate vice president of the Microsoft Business Solutions Group. At Microsoft we are excited to offer small and midsize retailers complete business solutions, education and support to empower people with the right information to transform todays retail challenges into long-term success.

Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 is aimed at small and midsized retailers and new benefits include; improved ease of use for managing complex inventory, efficient purchase order creation through Microsoft Office integration, support for next-generation hardware devices and simplified product activation.  RMS 2.0 also features comprehensive integration with Dynamics GP, AX or NAV, for a complete business management solution.

Ian Crawley, Director, Leslies of Luton, a UK based fishing tackle retailer, said: Were excited about rolling out RMS 2.0 to handle all sales transactions from both our physical and online stores.  The stock control functionality means that our web catalogue can display availability information in real time, removing any risk of disappointing customers by cancelling orders. Having access to detailed and timely sales information will assist with our product ranging and stocking levels, increasing our profitability and customer service.

Steve Crossley, client services director, CTS Retail, one of Microsoft UKs Dynamics POS specialist partners said: Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 provides a really solid EPOS system as a stand alone product, but its real value comes when integrated into online stores and back end business applications systems.  Our customers have been really impressed by its flexibility and weve been able to really tailor the system to suit the specific needs of a wide range of retailers across a number of different markets. Utilising the core RMS application we have been able to provide market specific enhancements to further embed business rules into this business critical system. RMS 2.0 is a scaleable, cost effective and flexible solution which we expect to be leading the market for some considerable time.

Karl Noakes, director of channel development at Microsoft in the UK, said: The UK retail market has a large number of small and midsized retail outlets which is healthy for the economy, but it is essential that these retailers are able to compete with the larger chains and newer online competition.  At Microsoft we firmly believe in providing our partners with access to a broader range of technologies, allowing them to target new and existing markets. The launch of Dynamics RMS 2.0 strengthens the Microsoft product set that partners in the retail space can offer customers. This opens up a further set of opportunities for them to achieve greater profitability.
