Making mobile ERP easy to use, both inside and outside the factory.

Exel Computer Systems, the UK based author and developer of the EFACS ERP system, has developed a brand new user interface enabling EFACS E/8 to be used on the new Panasonic Toughbook  CF-08 wireless touch screen display.

Continuing its policy of making the very latest technologies available to EFACS users, this takes full advantage of EFACS E/8's thin client technology and cross platform compatibility to enable ERP to be used directly where the work needs to be done.

The emphasis of the partnership focuses on ease of use and safety.  The ease of use comes from the clear, bright, daylight-readable touch screen that is protected by a pre-installed replaceable screen film while specially developed interface screens make EFACS menu options easy to access, even with gloved hands. This means that real time data from shop floor and warehouse data collection is available immediately for accurate forecasting, scheduling and customer service. The slow fragile paper link that is present in so many workshops, dispatch bays and warehouse stock takes can now be replaced, resulting in savings in labour time, elimination of transcription errors and delivery of information that is both accurate and up-to-the-minute. More rapid processing of dispatch data means faster loading of deliveries and faster issuing of sales invoices. Faster processing of goods receipts means reduced waiting time in addition to eliminating the time spent progress chasing for items that may have already been delivered, making Just-In-Time and back-to-back ordering a more practical option.

The safety comes from the Toughbooks magnesium alloy casing with integral hand strap which is ruggedised, lightweight and ultra portable, boasting a protection rating against drops of up to 4ft onto concrete and with an ingress protection rating of IP54. Data safety comes from the use of state-of-the-art WLAN network encryption security in combination with a device which has no local storage of critical data and no media connections.

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-08 coupled with Exels touch screen software presents a modern and practical option for increasing business efficiency. EFACS E/8 mobile modules are already nearing completion for Works Order Booking, Work in Progress tracking, Goods Receipt and Dispatch and are available for demonstration upon request.
