BFS delivers second Just-In-Sequence System for Toyota

Blue Fountain Systems has been selected as finalist in this years British Computer (BCS) Information Management Awards. The awards, now in their eleventh year, are the premier European recognition for excellence and innovation in the management of business information. They are a showcase for the success stories of organisations that have demonstrated the vision and business skills to implement highly successful projects utilizing leading-edge IT and business technologies.

Blue Fountain Systems is one of eight entries to reach the final in the Supply Chain Management category for its Blue Sequence solution. The Blue Sequence solution is a sophisticated mission-critical application which forms part of Toyota Motor Manufacturing's own "sequence-in-time" production process. The system handles real time data from the Toyota Production Line, processing signals to manufacture and deliver the right part, to the right point at the right time in the manufacturing process to match a particular car on the Toyota assembly line with the whole process taking less than eight hours.

The application uses open source technologies to deliver a robust and reliable system for demand flow manufacturing including Python, PostgreSQL and the Ruby on Rails web framework as the web front end for the application.
