The European Memory Card specialist Memory Corp has unveiled a new  memory card series for use in harsh working environments.  The  Industrial Flash Series has Single Level Cell (SLC) technology and  meets RoHS regulations.

The Industry Memory Card series can be used in mobile measuring  instruments, industrial PCs, single board computers and has the  capacity to act as additional memory on boards in harsh industrial  environments. The new series is one of the few to come with SLC  technology, which increases the number of write cycles and hence the  service life of the cards.  All of the new range has a 10 year  manufacturers warranty.

John Rasmussen, CEO of Memory Corp, commented: We constantly strive  to deliver industry leading products with the aim of solving issues  raised by our customers. Harsh industrial environments can place  extreme demands on memory cards, so we created the Industrial Flash  series.

This new range has been developed to work with a low current  consumption and has been manufactured to meet RoHS regulations.  The  new memory card series have storage facilities with possibly the  fastest read/write speeds on the market, together with a failsafe  approach to storing information.  SLC technology ensures the memory  cards longevity - whatever the temperature and atmospheric humidity  of the working environment.

The Industrial Flash Series features different styles of memory  card.  The first,  the Industrial SecureDigital Card has a  capacity of up to 4GB, a read speed of up to 19MB/s and a write speed  of 16MB/s.  The card is designed for demanding industrial  environments, within temperature ranges of    -40oC to +85oC and can  function in an atmospheric humidity of up to 95 per cent.

The second, the Industrial Linear Flash Card, has a capacity of up to  16MB, and is a proven reliable storage solution for palmtops, smart  phones, PCs, PDAs and other devices with a PC card slot and will  support flash cards of series I, II, 100 and 200. It can operate in a  temperature range from 0oC to 70oC and is write protected to prevent  deletion or overwriting of important data.  Offering integral data  security, it even retains information when the power supply is  interrupted.  Typical applications include industrial controls and  embedded systems.

Finally, there is the Industrial Compact and ATA Flash.  These are  available with capacities of up to 4GB for Compact Flash and 8GB for  ATA Flash, and are usable in temperature ranges of -40oC to +125oC .  The two memory cards have been developed for use in compact systems  such as industrial controls, embedded systems and mobile terminals  exposed to harsh industrial conditions. Both the flash cards have  read speeds of up to 7MB/s and a write speed of 5MB/s with a high  data transfer rate - 8.3MB/s/ burst from card to host and 20MB/s  burst from host to card.
