Identec Solutions Presented With Frost & Sullivan 2006 Product Line Strategy Leadership Award in the Active RFID Market

Frost & Sullivan honours Identec Solutions with the 2006 Product Line Strategy Leadership Award for its comprehensive product line in the active RFID market.

In presenting this award, Frost & Sullivan commends the company's commitment to developing innovative and technologically advanced RFID products.

Recognised as a leader in the active, long-range RFID market, Identec's products are used in various end-user markets such as the automotive sector, as well as aerospace and industrial manufacturing applications. The  company's powerful RFID products enable end-users to manage mobile assets more effectively in areas such as container monitoring, reusable material management and vehicle tracking.

"Identec specialises in Intelligent Asset Management(TM) systems using Intelligent Long Range (ILR) RFID products," remarks Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Rengarajan Srinivasan. "The ILR product range uses active RFID technology to deliver reliable solution performance at a distance of up to 100 meters. This allows the use of its products in demanding  environments, which has enabled the company to emerge as a leader in providing robust and efficient RFID systems that offer accurate long-range and high-speed data capture."

The company's products are designed to meet specific requirements of customers by providing significant flexibility in the choice of RFID products. High-quality tags such as the i-D and i-Q active RFID tags and the newly introduced active i-B broadcast tag can be configured to meet specific data requirements. These tags incorporate an excellent anti-collision algorithm that allows relatively large number of tags to be accommodated in a reader environment.

The product portfolio also includes a wide variety of handheld and  mobile RFID readers, such as the i-CARD 3, which can be directly connected to a computer. With the aid of its R&D efforts, Identec has successfully  delivered innovative products, while also enhancing its existing product range.  Identec has developed the i-CARD CF, the world's first RFID reader in compact flash (CF) format, which offers flexibility in connecting with laptops and other mobile devices to provide real-time data, using active RFID technology with a read range of 100 m.

It has also launched the i-HUB, an RFID product which enables active and passive RFID technology applications and is particularly useful in environments where a 'nested solution' is deployed, combining passive tags for case and pallet tracking and active technology for reusable asset tracking.

Recently, the enhanced i-Q32T active tag was released, which is specifically targeted at the food processing industries that are required to adhere to strict EU legislations on food traceability. The company also offers the i-Q8R tag, which provides high levels of heat resistance and durability and has been specifically designed for demanding industrial environments, such as the automotive industry.

"Identec has entered into strategic alliances with key industry participants to offer maximum value to customers in various end-user sectors," states Mr. Srinivasan. "The company offers significant  productivity improvements by deploying flexible solutions based on the use of long-range active RFID products."

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Line Leadership is presented each year to a company that has demonstrated the most insight into customer needs and product demands. The recipient company has optimised its product line by leveraging products with the various price, performance, and feature points required by the market.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
