FWLs Voice Solution encourages logistics managers to literally think outside of the box

FWL recently launched its Voice Solution which provides 99 per cent accuracy in picking, and delivers more than 25% gains in productivity; return on investment can be achieved in less than 18 months.

Many vendors have developed their voice technology exclusively for picking operations but in order to really see a speedy return on investment, warehouse managers need to think creatively about how they use the technology.
Voice technology can be used in a wide range of warehouse operations; as well as picking; it is highly effective for receiving, put-away, replenishment and loading. The technology can also be used for stock control including goods receipt, replenishment, damage control, stock adjustments, stock checking, stock taking, stock movements and pallet racking.
FWL offers this solution as a stand alone product or as part of its fulfillmentSCE Warehouse Management System. Using MCL Collections technology each Voice Solution terminal can also be used as a scanner for traditional RF by the operator, keying in the data and optical character recognition (OCR) using a light pen. The technology is also highly effective in cold or chillier rooms as the operator does not have to remove gloves in order to enter the data.
Future systems developments will include remote mobile technology that will enable delivery personnel to download work instructions for the day while on the road.
