Royal Mail Group Chief Executive Adam Crozier opens e-commerce centre for The Barcode Warehouse

Royal Mail Group Chief Executive Adam Crozier is cutting the ribbon in Newark today, opening a new e-commerce centre for long-standing barcode and logistics supplier The Barcode Warehouse. During the event, The Barcode Warehouse will show Royal Mail how the latest logistics technologies, such as RFID and tray labelling, can help deliver the postal system of the future.


The Barcode Warehouse offers a comprehensive barcoding, warehouse and logistics solution, with its own barcode printing facilities, supplying UK businesses with more than 750 million labels every year.


To celebrate ten years of the two companies working together, Adam Crozier opens the new facility, which provides The Barcode Warehouse with a state-of-the-art e-commerce offering, and expanded manufacturing and warehousing capabilities.

Ross A Lee, Chairman of The Barcode Warehouse adds: "We are continuing to grow year on year, helping businesses to improve visibility and control through the supply chain. Our new e-commerce centre, opened today, will reinforce that capacity for growth and enable the business to remain at the forefront of emerging warehouse and logistics technologies."


During the day, The Barcode Warehouse, with technology partner Symbol, will be demonstrating interactive "name badges", providing visitors with a practical insight into the use and benefits of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems.


With the focus on promoting RFID technologies and tray labelling systems, The Barcode Warehouse will show practical applications of these enabling technologies. Working with IT solutions provider CMC (Italy), a working tray labelling system has been set up to illustrate how processes can be streamlined using product numbering, barcodes, e-ID Repository and EDI messaging.

Highlighting the companys Information Communication Technology offering, The Barcode Warehouse and technology partner Blackbay, will also be demonstrating the benefits of handheld and cab-based systems.
