Acquisition expands use of Voice-Directed WorkT in healthcare industry

Vocollect, the world leader in Voice-Directed Work, recently announced an agreement to acquire Adherence Technologies Corporation, a leader in voice-activated documentation and communication systems for nursing homes. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Located in Dulles, Virginia., Adherence Technologies offers products that help carers improve the accuracy, efficiency and quality of care provided to nursing home residents. The company's signature product, AccuNurse, provides nursing staff members with lightweight headsets that enable them to receive patient care instructions, deliver care accurately, document care as it takes place and communicate with other staff more quickly in response to residents' needs.

"The Adherence Technologies acquisition furthers our vision of applying voice to improve work," said Jack LeVan, president and CEO of Vocollect. "Vocollect will continue to build on its market leadership in the supply chain and extend its expertise into a variety of industries where Voice-Directed Work can significantly improve productivity, accuracy and safety."

Adherence Technologies' management team will join the Vocollect organisation based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the combined company will continue to maintain a presence in Dulles, Va. The new unit will be headed by Roger Byford, co-founder of Vocollect, Inc.

"Vocollect and Adherence Technologies share a common vision: to improve the efficiency and accuracy of front-line workers through voice," said Jim Roddey, CEO of Adherence Technologies. "This transaction will strengthen the offerings we bring to long-term care facilities to improve both employee efficiency and the quality of resident care."

"Joining the Vocollect organisation marks an important milestone for the company," added Alan Letzt, president and co-founder of Adherence Technologies. "My continuing key role in the company reflects my confidence in Vocollect's commitment to provide continuous product improvements, responsive client support and rapid expansion of the AccuNurse client base."
